Erik Wahlstrom, a Game Designer / "Jack of all Trades" was born and raised in Portland Oregon. Growing up in the rainy northwest, which is quickly growing into a national hub or community of very distinctive an impressive talent in every mediam of art, allowed Erik to be cultivated into a very well rounded and open minded person. Constantly seeking to improve upon what he has already learned he has seeked out knowledge from many great mentors and teachers through his life. Always looking to be one step ahead of the curve he traveled to Arizona for a year of Schooling in Game Art and Animation at University of Advancing Technology. He left after feeling that they had offered all they could to sustain his thurst for creativity. Coming home to continue his schooling he is currently attending PCC all the while taking the right steps in is free time to gain more of the right tools to finish any job.
Entertainment has always fallen into being Erik's favorite form of art. Whether it be cinema, music, theater, video games, or writing it holds a fondness in his heart. Mainly video games have kept his interest through the years due to the belief that they are the most sincere and creative form of art, since it is the only mediam of which you truly can interact with. As he strives to become a member of a close knit team to create an original game with a passionate, pulitser worthy story he maintains individuality and never just "settles." Taking aspects from all forms of art he tries to apply them to game design. Whether it be lighting or cinematography from movies, a great soundtrack that accomponies the gameplay perfectly, or be it a exquisite, heart pounding, dramatic script from his theater or writing background he will find a way to use only the best ingredients.
As he would say, "strive for risk and you will never fail," this being the best example of his character. This all stems from his belief that the moment u stop taking risk is the moment you sell out and in turn become another generic commodity which this industry is seeing way too much of. Being a successful buisness or person because people buy your product solely based on the "name" attatched to it, or because it is a run of the mill genre title that people trust to works does not make you a successful artist, creator, and/or studio. Knowing this Erik plans on not compromising his standards and will always work hard at becoming a truly great innovator.
